Every year, we ask ourselves that same question:

Is it too late to start the blog? That YouTube Channel? That online Business?

Before we get to the juicy details, allow me to introduce myself. 

 

Who Am I?

My name is Jennifer, better known as Jenn J. on social media. I am glad you are here. Chances are you know me from my Youtube channel or Instagram – but if you just stumbled across this blog, this is me in a nutshell:  

• • • • • • • • I’m obsessed and passionate about natural hair and Self-care in general.
            • I’m a student of personal development, performance, and empowerment
            • My greatest pleasure is helping others (as in, you!) tap into unleashed dreams, power, and potential.

My journey may sound similar to your own: a young adult trying to find ways to navigate this world while reprogramming and healing myself from past trauma. I am on a growth journey, and it all started when I suddenly lost my father in an earthquake in 2010. A part of my soul passed away, and I had to grow up overnight. Since then, I have been learning about my likes and wants while continuously improving. 

What does this have to do with blogging?

I am not new at creating content; I started my YouTube channel back in 2011 as a coping mechanism to my father’s sudden death. I needed a distraction, but my hair started to fall out in clumps from all the stress and poor hair care habits. I started my search for healthier hair, but quickly hit a wall. There weren’t any representations of my natural hair online nor on YouTube.  

After being inspired by a few creators, I started my channel. It quickly connected me with women across the globe. It may have started with hair, but I am now on self-discovery and growth journey. I also started a blog back in 2016 to share my passions with my subscribers, so I have been toying with the idea of a re-launch for a while. I am finally pulling the trigger. 

The plan is to have my own corner on the internet to inspire you to become your best self. I want to empower women to stand for themselves, take control of their lives, and look 

damn good while doing it. Creating has always been an outlet for me, so I am delighted to share my work with you on this platform. I see this blog being the bridge between my other social media pages and a resource for up-and-coming creators. As long as you have value to add to your readers, you too should start a blog.

If you are an influencer, you need a blog

It is a known fact that we do not own any of our social media platforms. Of course, seasoned content creators with millions of followers do not have a blog, but many

 already have authority in their niche. If you are just starting out or just getting comfortable with your content, you need a blog. Home is where the blog is, essentially. I made it without a blog for many years, which means that I left a lot of money on the table. We live, and we learn, so do not make the same mistakes I’ve made. I plan to share my journey on starting a blog again in 2022 and how I plan on monetizing it. Start a blog today, even if it is 2022, and you won’t be alone on this journey.
